Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how EduWait ("we", "us", the "App") collects, uses, and protects your personal data. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data transparently.

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

The data controller responsible for your personal data is:

2. Data We Collect

• Account data — your email address and chosen username.
• Profile content — an optional profile photo (avatar) you upload.
• Study material you provide — photos, documents, or text you upload or paste so the App can generate quiz packs for you.
• Content you create — quiz packs and questions you make in the App.
• Usage data — your quiz progress, earned screen-time credits, streaks, and the list of apps you choose to block.
• Diagnostics — crash logs and performance data, to help us fix bugs and keep the App stable. These are linked only to an internal account identifier — never to your name or email address.
• Notification token — if you allow notifications, the device token your phone's push service issues, so the App can tell you that a blocked app is waiting or that your child created a quiz pack for you to approve.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health data, financial data, or any advertising identifiers.

3. How We Use Your Data and Legal Bases

We use your data only to operate and improve the App:

• To provide the App — authenticating your account, saving your packs, progress, and settings. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To generate quizzes with AI — study material you submit is sent to a third-party AI provider to create quiz questions. This happens only when you ask for it, by submitting material for a quiz pack. Legal basis: performance of a contract.
• To fix bugs and improve stability — using crash and performance data. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell your data, and we do not track you across other apps or websites.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We share data only with service providers ("processors") that help us run the App:

• Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage hosting.
• Anthropic — processes study material you submit to generate quiz questions.
• Sentry — collects crash and performance diagnostics.
• Expo (Expo Application Services) — delivers our push notifications. Your device's notification token and the text of the notification pass through Expo's push service on their way to Apple's or Google's push service.
• RevenueCat — manages EduWait Pro subscriptions (purchase status and an anonymous account identifier; we never receive your payment details).
• Apple and Google — app distribution and payment processing.

These providers process data on our behalf under data processing agreements and may not use it for their own purposes.

5. International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers are located outside the European Economic Area (EEA), including in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. Study material you submit for AI quiz generation is passed to our AI provider to produce the questions and is not saved to our own file storage; only the resulting quiz pack is stored.

You can delete your account at any time in the App under Settings → Account → Delete account. A child's account is deleted by the linked parent under Family → select the child → Remove & delete account. Deletion removes your login, profile and profile photo, the packs and questions you created, your progress and credits, your blocked-app list and your notification token. It is immediate and cannot be undone.

If you cannot reach the App, you can request deletion by email instead. Both routes, and the few records we are legally required to keep (such as accounting records for a purchase) are set out on our Delete Your Account page.

7. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. Where we rely on legitimate interest — which, as set out in section 3, we do only for crash and performance diagnostics — you may object to that processing at any time. 8. Children's Privacy

EduWait may be used by students, including minors, often with a parent or guardian. We collect only the limited data described above and never use it for advertising or tracking. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us data you wish to remove, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date, and where appropriate we will notify you in the App.
